PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — A crime spree across state lines ended Thursday morning after two suspects crashed a stolen SUV near a home in Prairie Village.

According to police, the driver of the stolen vehicle lost control at Belinder Road and Somerset and crashed near a home in the 2600 block Somerset Drive.

No one inside the home was injured, but the two suspects were transported to the hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Police say they have been following the suspects whose motive is to walk across state lines on foot and commit crimes for the past couple of weeks.

A special task force including officers on bicycles was set up to monitor them.

Police say the suspects stole some bikes from an open garage door early Thursday then ditched the bikes and stole a vehicle before they sped away.

The driver hit a curb, utility pole and then a tree before the vehicle came to a stop inches from the house. Police say there is minor damage to the house.

The suspects are believed to have been involved in more than 12 burglaries.
