KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The driver of a silver SUV lost control and crashed into a house Thursday.

The crash occurred around 8:10 a.m. near 78th Terrace and Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Police say the crash was a result of road rage.

According to investigators, the woman was following a car too closely. When she went around that car, she got stuck behind another car and hit it.

She then somehow lost control of her car and slammed into the house. The impact left a hole in the side of the house.

The driver of the SUV was taken to an area hospital for treatment. She is listed in critical condition. Everyone in the house was okay.

The homeowner said she was about to get her morning cup of coffee when the crash occurred.

"They're going to allow them to stay in the house,"  Sgt. Bill Mahoney said. "Just not in the part that was damaged, like the kitchen area. All utilities have been turned off for right now to that residence."
