KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Does "Nerve" have verve? "Captain Fantastic" really fantastic? "Lights Out" illuminating? FOX 4's Russ Simmons shares what he thought in this week's Popcorn Bag Home Video Reviews.

1) NERVE (PG-13)

Lionsgate

RUSS

Emma Roberts and Dave Franco star in the effective little thriller “Nerve” about teens who get a lot more than they can handle when they sign up for a cyber dare game. It stretches credibility to the limit, but deserves extra credit for having original ideas.

SHAWN says this really cool concept works. The perfect movie for right now especially for social media junkies.

2) CAPTAIN FANTASTIC (R)

Bleeker Street

RUSS

No, “Captain Fantastic” isn’t the latest Marvel superhero flick. Viggo Mortensen stars in this offbeat story of a man who attempts to raise his six children completely 'off-the-grid.' This anti-materialistic opus is a sweet-natured and involving comic drama.

SHAWN says somewhat moving and well acted, especially Viggio Mortensen.

RUSS: 3 Popcorn Bags

SHAWN: 3 Popcorn Bags
3) LIGHTS OUT (R)

Warner Brothers

SHAWN says: An effectively frightening horror flick that pimps its premise for maximum effect.

SHAWN: 4 Popcorn Bags
