Arguably a candidate for worst film of the year, ‘The Watch’ is nearly unwatchable. Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade (eye-oh-WA-deh) star in this labored R-rated comedy, a raunchy science fiction spoof about members of a small town neighborhood watch committee who uncover evidence of an alien invasion.SHAWN
Arguably? Come on son. This is the worst movie of the year. Juvenile. Misoginystic. Sophmoric. And crass at every level. It’s a total waste of time and talent.RUSS
It’s obvious that much of the dialogue was improvised. Maybe the actors realized what they’d gotten themselves into and were desperately trying to make something out of nothing. Director Akiva Schaffer has made funny digital shorts for Saturday Night Live, but “The Watch” just seems desperate. Bottom line? Don’t watch “The Watch.”

It’s one thing to make a short funny. It’s really difficult to be funny for 90 minutes and this team clearly fails. “Attack the Block” is a much, much better movie about the same premise. The extras include an unrated cut but who cares?

Silly to the extreme, this celebration of aging testosterone is a violent mess. Stallone, Statham, Schwarzenegger and the rest of the long-in-the-tooth crew seem to be having fun blowing people up, though.SHAWN
The first movie was a nice and silly nostalgic surprise but that was enough. No need to sequelized these old dudes reliving their glory days but you know Hollywood. They are cow killers out there and will milk an idea to death.RUSS
While it makes fun of itself, it’s so poorly directed and the dialogue is so bad that you’ll laugh at it while you’re laughing with it.

Extras include an audio commentary with director, a couple of ho-hum featurettes, deleted scenes and a gag reel.RUSS: 2 Popcorn Bags

Ken Burns’ patented documentary style is a good fit for this informative history lesson about the worst man-made ecological disaster so far.SHAWN
Ken Burns is a master at delivering in depth documentaries. Maticulous in his execution. Professorial in presenting the facts. He’s simply a great non-fiction storyteller.RUSS
Comprehensive and thoughtful, it’s a timely cautionary tale about being good stewards of our environment.SHAWN
It is a total cautionary tale but also a terrific long form history lesson. Extras? The entire movie is extra.
