KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A family came together Sunday to remember a 13-year-old little boy whose life ended too soon. The group met at KCK Community College to remember Jons’ey Sanders, the boy who was hit and killed crossing a Northland highway Thursday night.

“I miss my little shadow, I miss you,” said LaTonya Jackson, the boy’s mother. “You were there wherever I went, to the doctor, to the store, helping me clean up.”

The group said every year they gather for a family reunion to honor everybody in their family who has passed away. This year, they said they never expected to have to remember somebody so young.

Jackson said Jons’ey’s brothers are having a hard time coping with the loss.

“I love Jons’ey because I love him to come home but he can’t,” said the boy’s little brother, Tomossi Smith.

The family said they are asking other parents to talk to their children about making the right decisions.

“We certainly don’t want any other child to have what happened to him happen to them,” said Dana Washington.

A GoFundMe.com page has been set up to help the family pay for funeral expenses. To donate CLICK HERE.
