KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Thursday night was huge for Star Wars fans as thousands piled into theaters all over the metro. Kansas City police were prepared for the sold out shows, calling in off duty cops to make sure all is calm.

Many fans were dressed in character from head to toe, with lines stretching as far as the eye could see.

Some waited for hours to get a good seat for the 11 p.m. show at the AMC Theater off of Barry Road. Four thousand people were expected to attend showings Thursday night into early Friday morning.

People leaving the earliest shows gave rave reviews for the series’ latest installment, and fans had many opportunities to see it on the first night, with the last show starting at 2:45 a.m.
