KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A deadly pedestrian-accident shut down I-435 near Winner road for two hours Friday  morning.

Police say the accident happened just before 3:30 a.m.

According to Sgt. Bill Mahoney the victim, who was identified as 33-year-old Anthony Galate of KCMO, was walking along I-435 near Winner Road when a pickup truck hit him. The driver of the pickup truck said that he was heading to work in the area and was driving in the out lane of the highway when he hit Galate. The victim is described as a man in his 30s.

Police say the driver of the truck stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The accident shut down the northbound lanes of I-435 between Winner Road and Front Street for nearly two hours. The on-ramp to the northbound lanes was also shut down to traffic.
