OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A fire inside two apartments Wednesday afternoon has forced 11 families to be displaced.

The fire sparked around 4 p.m. at the Highland Ridge Apartments in the 11000 block of Perry Street in Overland Park — near the intersection of West 119th Street and Overland Parkway.

The two apartments involved are said to have serious damage, firefighters said. Others were forced out because firefighters turned off water to the building.

No one was hurt in the blaze.

The fire remains under investigation.

The Red Cross has helped families displaced by the fire.
