KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Firefighters are investigating what caused a high-rise apartment complex to catch on fire Wednesday night.
According to the Raytown Fire Department, which helped fight the flames, the fire erupted around 10:30 p.m. at the Temple Heights Manor apartment complex in the 5400 block of Blue Ridge Cutoff.
Two people were taken to area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening smoke inhalation injuries.
Fire investigators determined the fire started in the living room of a ninth floor apartment.
According to firefighters on the scene, the high-rise was partially evacuated while crews worked to put out flames. At least two apartments were disabled during the fire, and damages were determined to be nearly $14,000. Fire crews were not sure how many people lived in those two apartments.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
