CASS COUNTY, Mo. -- A tornado ripped through rural Cass County on Friday night, and FOX 4 had a crew that captured video of it all. The tornado touched down about seven miles west of Harrisonville Middle School.

FOX 4’s Megan Brilley was live streaming during severe weather coverage when the tornado came close to her news vehicle. The tornado was ripping through a nearby backyard.

"As the house kind of contracted I could hear like creaking of woods. Doors moving in," one neighbor told FOX 4.

There was debris flying all around as the tornado touched down for a few minutes. FOX 4’s crew could hear trees cracking, boards breaking, and possibly some barns and structures being torn up.

“We have had several tornados go through. Always been close, never this close. This was definitely, it was loud it was scary. The kids were crying,” one woman told FOX 4.

The tornado ripped through her wooden playset in the backyard, and pieces of it were spread across Highway 2.
