KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The mother of a 12-year-old Kansas City, Kan., girl is worried that a dog that she says attacked her daughter will be released to its owner.

Ariana Milan landed in the hospital after she says her friend’s pit bull attacked her over the weekend. She said her friend wanted her to pet his dog, but she refused. She says the dog then lunged at her.

“I covered my eyes and I didn’t look at it. I just told him to get it off,” said Ariana.

Pit bulls are a banned breed in Kansas City, Kan.

FOX 4 reached out to Animal Control, but there was no answer due to the holiday.

“It could’ve been worse than just being on her foot or leg,” said Tracy Taylor, Ariana’s mom. “The next person, it could be elsewhere and it could be worse.”
