OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — It was picture day for a group of metro runners, as 435-South Magazine did a photo shoot in honor of the upcoming Head for the Cure 5K run.
The 10 people featured in the photo shoot have each ran in the nine previous Head for the Cure runs, which are held in honor of Chris Anthony, who died of brain cancer in February of 2003.
Harry Campbell ran in the first race in honor of Anthony, but this year he’s running for his wife – a brain cancer survivor.
“This is something that is becoming more prevalent,” said Campbell. “It needs focus, attention and money and if you can give your time or your money to help find a cure, this is an excellent organization to do it.”
To date, the Head for the Cure organization has raised almost $2 million for brain cancer research.
