KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A routine traffic stop in Kansas City took a dangerous turn when police say a driver didn’t stop in the area of 71 Highway at 39th Street Monday night. Officers pursued the driver as he sped away and crossed the state line into Kansas, at times reaching speeds over 100 mph when clocked by a police helicopter.

Police continued pursuing the driver who finally stopped in a neighborhood at 39th and Norton where he fled on foot. Police say the suspect ran into a relative’s house, but was arrested. Officers told FOX 4’s Mary Pulley that the driver admitted to smoking marijuana, but a search of his car failed to produce any drugs.
