KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is in custody Thursday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase.
The chase began in Independence, Mo., near Truman and Hardy around 4 a.m., and continued through Kansas City, Mo.
Speeds during the chase reached 80-90 mph. At one point along the chase, the suspect tossed a large luggage bag, similar to the size of a carry-on, out of the vehicle. Investigators have not said what was in the bag.
Police finally took the suspect into custody along westbound I-70 near the Oak Street after stops ticks caused both the left side front and rear tires on the vehicle to pop.
According to investigators, police were chasing the suspect because he allegedly stole a vehicle.
