KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Highway 69 over the Missouri River will be closed for part of day Monday.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will conduct a third demolition as part of the plan to replace the Fairfax Bridge.
MODot has already conducted two demolitions to bring down the old Fairfax Bridge.
The highway will be closed from 3:30 p.m. till 5 p.m. while the demolition takes place.
The explosion will take place below the waterline.
The bridge demolition was originally planed for last Friday.
The project is part of an effort to replace the Fairfax and Platte Purchases bridges with one bridge.
The new bridge will be built in the same spot and will include multiple lanes, including pedestrian and bike access.
Crews said they expect the bridge to open in December of next year.
