OAK GROVE, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a reported road rage shooting Wednesday afternoon that has left one man dead.
The shooting was reported around 4 p.m. on Interstate 70 in Oak Grove, Missouri.
The highway patrol says both drivers were heading eat toward the exit to Oak Grove when for some reason a driver in a white car shot the driver of a black pickup truck.
Witnesses saw the shooting and were able to describe the suspect vehicle, a white Hyundai Elantra with Florida plates. Troopers then found the driver and tried to pull him over.
The suspect sped off leading them on a chase past Sweet Springs before he drove off into a wooded field near a creek bed.
At this time MSHP still doesn’t know why the suspect shot and killed the victim.
When troopers got to the scene, they found the victim, who had been shot and had driven to a gas station. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Just before 9 p.m. the highway patrol said they are continuing to search for the suspect. Several troopers remains in the area and a patrol aircraft is helping troopers on the ground with aerial surveillance.
