Homicide investigation underway after 23-year-old woman found dead along road near 70th and Kensington

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person was found dead early Monday morning near 70th and Kensington, police say.

According to police, the victim was found just before 1 a.m., near the roadway.

Police described the victim as a female who was in her 20s to 30s. A week later they identified her as Alexxandra C. Sonny-Morris, 23.

It is not clear how the victim died. No suspect information has been given.

“We’re going to keep doing what we have to do to combat violence in Kansas City," KCPD Captain Stacey Graves said. "If anyone knows anyone that’s involved in an ongoing dispute where you think it may lead to that, to homicide, we ask that you call us. Maybe we can try to intervene.”
