KANSAS CITY, Kan. — More than 600 paddlers departed from Kaw Point Tuesday morning.

The boaters will partake in an 88-hour canoe trip down the Missouri River.

It’s called the MR340 because they will be paddling for 340 river miles from Kansas City to St. Charles. National Geographic calls this one of the top 100 American Adventures.

There will be nine checkpoints along the route for paddlers to stop and gather supplies.
