KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Thirty-two years after the 1981 Hyatt skywalk collapse, the Skywalk Memorial Fund is getting closer to its goal of erecting a memorial.

The Kansas City law firm Shamberg, Johnson and Bergman recently donated $20,000 to be used for the construction of the memorial that will honor the 114 people who were killed.

"Our firm hope is that by us making this contribution that it will encourage other attorneys who represented the families and those who were badly injured to also step up and make a contribution," said Lynn Johnson, attorney with Shamberg, Johnson and Bergman. "I hope that occurs so this dream can become a reality sooner rather than later so that we don't get to the 33rd or 34th anniversary and not have this memorial completed"
