INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- A traffic stop early Thursday morning helped lead police to a missing teenager and a vehicle stolen out of Nebraska.

Independence police pulled the vehicle over near I-70 and Brooklyn just before 3 a.m., where Kansas City, Mo., police backed them up.

Inside the vehicle police found two guns including a long barrel shotgun, and marijuana. The three males and one young female were handcuffed at the scene. The three men were taken into custody while the teenage girl was taken to the juvenile court division.

Police say they had been following the Buick with Nebraska license plates because the car had been reported stolen. According to police, it was the grandfather of one of the men who had reported that his vehicle had been stolen. The young girl inside the vehicle is described as a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing.

There is no word on where the men and teenager were headed or whether charges will be filed.
