7-year-old boy dies after falling from hayride in Jackson County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 7-year-old boy died on Saturday night due to injuries after falling from a hayride.

Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forte said the incident happened in the 13000 block of Pratt Road, in an unincorporated area of Jackson County, around 7:40 p.m. Saturday night. 

The boy was clinging to the trailer when he fell and was struck by the trailer. He was transported to Lee’s Summit Medical Center where he later died.

You could feel the sadness and despair in the Quail Meadows neighborhood in Jackson County, Missouri on Sunday.

Residents, who didn’t want to talk on camera, said the event was a Halloween party that is thrown every year. Neighbors chip in on meals and activities the kids partake in.

It normally happens on Halloween, but this year it was thrown on a Saturday.
