KANSAS CITY, Mo. — FOX4 is tracking homicide cases in Kansas City, Missouri following the previous three deadliest years on record in 2020 (179), 2021 (157), and 2022 (169).

In 2022, Kansas City surpassed 2020’s homicide count in December, setting a second-worst year for homicides.

FOX4 contacted the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and Kansas City, Missouri Police Department for updates on suspects charged in homicides this year.

January – 12 killed

  • January 8 – Charles Martin, 46, and Tanisha Williams, 35, were shot at a house in the 2000 block of East 73rd Street. Martin died at the scene and Williams later died at a hospital.
  • January 8 – Amir Moore, 16, shot in the 1600 block of East 77th Terrace. The man later died at a hospital.
  • January 12 – Jericho Petalino, 30, died in a shooting in the 700 block of Lewis Avenue. Two others were injured in the shooting but were located at an Express Stop at 8501 Winner Road.
  • January 17 – Adam Blackstock, 24, was found dead inside a car in the 4600 block of Montgall Avenue. Police have not said how he died.
  • January 17 – Dahrell Johnson, 24, was shot and killed inside a vehicle in the 10300 block of East 42nd Street.
  • January 19 – Douglas Menser, 66, was fatally shot inside a home in the 7600 block of East 108th Terrace.
  • January 20 – Bryson Washington, 29, was fatally shot and multiple people were injured in a shooting at Elite Funeral Home at East 115th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard.
  • January 27 – Mark Young, 31, was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting at a home in the 3400 block of Chestnut Avenue.
  • January 27 – Gabriel Williams, 35, was shot and killed in front of a home in the 2100 block of East 24th Terrace. Police were looking for a ride-share vehicle that was previously called to the location.
  • January 30 – Thomas Lewis, 20, was found fatally shot inside a vehicle north of East 55th Street and Cleveland Avenue.
  • January 31 – D’mitri Carr, 21, was shot and killed inside a vehicle in the 2400 block of Brighton Avenue.

February – 11 killed

  • February 1 – Markhi A. Williams, 19, was taken to a hospital and later died from their injuries. Police received information that the victim was shot near East Gregory Boulevard and Askew Avenue.
  • February 2 – Eric J. Allison, 43, was found dead at East Gregory Boulevard and Swope Memorial Drive. Police are investigating the death as a homicide.
  • February 3 – Alawna Collier, 20, was shot and killed in the parking lot of World Market in the 500 block of Westport Road.
  • February 4 – Jesus Diaz-Deleon, 26, was killed in a stabbing just before noon in the 3800 block of Bales Avenue.
  • February 9 – Derrick Rich, 30, and Deondrea Brand, 38, were discovered inside a vehicle in the 5200 block of 28th Terrace. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
  • February 20 – Leigh Dalton, 44, was found dead near a vacant car wash in the 8300 block of Hickman Mills Drive.
  • February 20 – Aaron Looney, 41, was shot and killed on the side of the road at East 31st Street and Van Brunt Boulevard.
  • February 20 – Marcus Bewley-Perez, 24, was found with gunshot wounds inside a crashed car at U.S. 71 North and Red Bridge Road. He died of his injuries three days later.
  • February 21 – Jamal W. Garcia, 53, was fatally shot in the 3600 block of Wabash Avenue.
  • February 25 – James Perry, 59, was found dead during a medical call in the 1000 block of East First Street.

March – 19 killed

  • March 2 – Terrance Blewett, 42, was fatally shot and one person was injured in the 5800 block of East 100th Street.
  • March 4 – Orlando D. Taylor Jr., 32, was fatally shot at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Highland Avenue.
  • March 4 – Glen A. Vassie, 60, was fatally shot during a disturbance at a home at East 80th Street and Euclid Avenue.
  • March 6 – Ricky Hardy, 33, was shot at a bus stop at East 35th Street and Prospect Avenue. He later died from the injuries.
  • March 11 – Rodney White, 34, was shot and killed inside an apartment building at East 11th Street and Grand Boulevard.
  • March 11 – Makel Williams, 18, was shot in the 1500 block of West 12th Street. He later died from his injuries.
  • March 12 – Darryl Brown, 24, was shot and killed inside a home in the 8300 block of Highland Avenue.
  • March 13 – Trianna Tisdale, 29, was fatally shot near an apartment building at East 115th Terrace and Food Lane.
  • March 14 – Nehemiah Clark, 65, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Family Dollar at 10445 Blue Ridge Boulevard.
  • March 14 – Elizabeth Stivers, 31, was strangled in the 4300 block of East 7th Street.
  • March 15 – Dickens F. Taima, 52, was beaten to death inside an apartment at 2017 East Linwood Boulevard.
  • March 15 – Abdullahi Yussuf, 30, was found suffering from apparent trauma in the road on Independence Avenue. Court records later said he was shot to death and shoved out of a vehicle.
  • March 17 – Sylvester L. Roberts, 28, was shot in the 5400 block of The Paseo after an argument at a home. He died from the injuries on March 26.
  • March 21 – Darrell Weldon, 17, was fatally shot in the 9800 block of Newton Avenue.
  • March 23 – Oscar Cabral, 18, was found in a ditch in the area of Hillcrest Road and Oldham Road.
  • March 25 – Jerome Oates, 31, was fatally shot in a parking lot in the 10400 block of East 43rd Street.
  • March 28 – Donald Young, 23, was shot and killed in the parking lot of a gas station at Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard.
  • March 29 – Deonta Words, 28, was shot in the 1300 block of Highland Avenue. He died from the injuries over the weekend.
  • March 31 – Robert Carter, 64, was found dead in the street in the 3500 block of Roberts Street following a shooting call. 

April – 17 killed

  • April 1 – Raul P. Sanchez, 21, was fatally shot inside a home in the 1800 block of Cambridge Avenue.
  • April 3 – James Hill Jr., 29, was shot and killed inside Texas Toms at 6950 Prospect Avenue during a possible verbal altercation.
  • April 4 – Keith Martin, 56, was shot and killed inside an apartment building in the 6400 block of Manchester Avenue.
  • April 4 – Carl Stewart, 36, was shot and killed at the Days Inn at 8601 Hillcrest Road.
  • April 8 – Zameyanna Williams, 18, was shot and killed inside a home in the 7800 block of East 48th Street.
  • April 8 – Mark Bowman, 63, was fatally shot in the 3900 block of South Benton Avenue.
  • April 10 – Victor Diaz, 16, was shot and killed in the street at East 69th and Bellefontaine Avenue.
  • April 14 – Michael Frazier, 26, was killed and four people were hurt in a shooting at East 35th Street and Prospect Avenue.
  • April 15 – Malik Akins, 20, was shot and killed at West 40th Street and Washington Street.
  • April 15 – Ahmed Simmons, 33, was killed and another man was hurt in a shooting at East 37th and Prospect Avenue.
  • April 25 – Justin Treadway, 35, was found dead in the street just south of East 41 Street and Spruce Avenue.
  • April 26 – Anthony Garcia, 22, was shot and killed in the 800 block of Prospect Avenue.
  • April 27 – Terrell Farrow, 19, was shot and East 33rd Street and U.S. 71 Highway and then taken to Research Medical Center. he died from the injuries on May 3.
  • April 29 – Deontrey Jones, 28, was fatally shot in the 7200 block of Wabash Avenue.
  • April 29 – Terry Lovingood, 40, and Joshua Ellison, 29, were shot and killed at East Gregory Boulevard and Prospect Avenue.
  • April 29 – Jamie Craig, 44, was killed inside an apartment in the 1700 block of East Missouri Avenue.

May – 17 killed to date

  • May 7 – Kavon Carter, 17, was shot in the area of East 12th Street and Van Brunt Boulevard. He died from his injuries May 14.
  • May 20 – Donell James, 23, was shot and killed in the 8600 block of Drury Avenue.
  • May 21 – Jason McConnell, 41, Antoinette Brenson, 24, and Clarence Henderson, 33, were shot and killed, and two people were injured, at the Klymax Lounge at 4242 Indiana Avenue.
  • May 22 – Nykolett Schroeder, 24, was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the 9300 block of Bales Drive. Schroeder was transported to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.
  • May 22 – Keyion Brown, 38, was shot and another person was injured in the area of East 39th Street and South Benton Avenue. Brown was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
  • May 23 – Zechariah Washington, 16, was shot and killed in the area of East 82nd Place and Forest Avenue.
  • May 26 – Charles Jones, 18, was fatally shot in the 1200 block of East 83rd Street.
  • May 28 – Eric Preston, 51, was found dead in the back parking lot of a former Applebee’s restaurant at 4181 Sterling Avenue. Police have not said how he died but his death is being investigated as a homicide.
  • May 28 – Walter Madge, 59, was shot and killed in the street at East 56th Street and Park Avenue.
  • May 29 – Wardell Woods, 42, was found dead inside a home in the 5200 block of Walrond Avenue. The cause of death has not been released but police indicate that they are investigating the death as a homicide.
  • May 29 – Officers responded to the 3600 block of Agnes Avenue. On arrival, officers were advised Deion Miles, 19, was taken from the house near East 31st Street and Prospect Avenue. Miles was taken to the hospital but later died from the injuries.
  • May 29 – James Allen Jr., 24, was fatally shot inside a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Colorado Avenue.
  • May 29 – Antonio Wells, 33, was shot and killed inside a home at East 25th Street and Wabash Avenue.
  • May 31 – Officers heard gunshots and found a crashed car in the area of the 3800 block of Northwest 63rd Terrace. Inside the car, officers found Justin Barstow, 34, who had been fatally shot.
  • May 31 – An unidentified person died and two others were injured in a shooting at Family Dollar at East Linwood Boulevard and Troost Avenue.
