KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person has died and another is hospitalized after a shooting on Kanas City’s east side Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to a call at a home on Mersington Court, near East 19th Street and Cleveland Avenue around 2:30 p.m.
When police arrived, they were directed to the front of a home where they found two men that were shot.
Medics took one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later a short time later. The second victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police have not released the victim’s name at this time.
Detectives are still investigating but said a preliminary investigation indicates both men were outside the home when they had an interaction with one or more suspects, which led to shots being fired.
Suspect information was not immediately available. Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene and looking for witnesses.
