KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police responded to a shooting in the 4800 block of Main Street on Thursday afternoon. They went to the scene just after 2 p.m. where a victim was found life-threatening injuries, and he died a short time later.
Police say the victim is a black male in his late 30s, he has not yet been identified. He was shot on the second floor of the parking garage near the library. They do not have a suspect in custody, and they do not yet know the motive.
People with cars within the crime scene in the garage may not be able to get them for several hours as it’s still blocked off. Right now investigators are checking to see if area businesses have any surveillance video, and those who happened to be in the area when the shooting happened say it makes them think twice about their safety.
“More and more reports of people being robbed, purse rip offs, that sort of thing, concerns about being in parking lots, concerns about walking in the park just a few blocks from here. It`s a very pleasant park, but with reports of these kinds of incidents, concerns about being more and more of our surroundings,” said LeAnn Zimmerman.
Police are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to call KCPD or TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
