KANSAS CITY, Kan.— Letters believed to contain the deadly substance known as ricin were delivered to the Capitol Hill office of Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss. on Tuesday and to President Obama on Wednesday. Dr. Stephen Thornton, a toxicologist and medical director of The University of Kansas Hospital’s Poison Control Center, explains the effects of ricin on the human body.
