KANSAS CITY, Mo. —  Kansas City prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced on Monday that a 41-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the July 5 fatal shooting of Alvino Crawford, 29.

Jerome B. Walker Jr., was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

According to court records, a witness told police that she and others had been with the victim and the defendant. The witness walked to President Gardens apartment with the defendant and met the victim in front of 8247 Forest. The defendant told them to leave. As they were leaving, he pulled out a gun and several shots were fired. Later the defendant admitted to shooting into the apartment to scare a woman inside. Crawford was killed by being shot when the defendant fired into the apartment.

Prosecutors have requested that Walker’s bond be set at $250,000 cash.
