KC mom accused of shaking 3-month-old son, fracturing ribs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 20-year-old Kansas City mother has been charged with two felony counts in connection with physical abuse of a three-month child, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced late Wednesday.

Abigail C. Millican, 20, faces two counts of child abuse.

According to court records, officers were called to Children’s Mercy Hospital on a suspected child abuse of a 3-month-old boy. He was diagnosed by medical staff with four healing rib fractures, bruises on the face and other signs of injury.

Millican admitted to being angry and frustrated with the child, identified as “J.M.” in court documents,” where she admitted “aggressively tossing J.M. onto the bed and cranking his arm up.”

She was the sole person present during incidents in which she aggressively tossed the child onto the bed and shook the child, court documents showed.

She is being held on a $100,000 bond.
