KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Wyandotte County District Attorney charged a 45-year-old man with second-degree murder on Thursday. Franklin Bryant Jr., is accused of fatally shooting 39-year-old Jerome Simmons at a home in the 1100 block of Kimball Avenue on Tuesday night.

As investigators were collecting evidence at the crime scene, police told FOX 4 that Bryant had already gone to headquarters to surrender.

“Obviously we will have to question him and follow up the investigation, but we believe we have a person of interest in custody already at this time,” Officer Thomas Tomasic said the night of the shooting.

Bryant is in jail on a $250,000 bond. It’s currently unknown when he’s due in court.
