KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Officers are at a standoff with someone who’s barricaded themselves near 25th and Garfield on Friday afternoon.

Kansas City, Kan., Police Chief Terry Zeigler says the person is possibly involved in a robbery, and multiple police sources tell FOX 4 that this is related to the carjacking and attack of Father Tom Kearns, and 82-year-old retired priest.

Fr. Kearns’ car was found on Thursday near 10th and New Jersey. Two unknown younger men attacked him a week ago while he unloaded a pumpkin from his car outside of Blessed Sacrament Church at 22nd and Parallel. He was robbed and had an eye socket shattered, he needed surgery to repair a bone in his face and is recovering.

FOX 4 is at the standoff scene, and will provide updates on this page and during FOX 4 News at 5 and 6.
