KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Police are investigating after a dead body was discovered by local fishermen.

Police said the body was found on Saturday evening on 18th Street near Osage, which is along train tracks and underneath an overpass. Fishermen found the young deceased Hispanic man inside of a black SUV at the end of the road where it turns into bushes.

Officers said they are unsure how long the body has been there, and believe the vehicle he was found inside of could be stolen. They said the still unidentified man suffered a gunshot wound to the head, but are not yet ruling that as his official cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation. Police said they are likely to release the man's identity early next week.

Anyone with any information is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
