KANSAS CITY, Kan. — One person has died Monday after a shooting in KCK, not far from Wyandotte High School, police say.

The shooting happened on North 22nd Street, south of Minnesota Avenue.

A KCK police spokesman said officers were called out earlier in the day on a report of a domestic disturbance. Police couldn’t find the suspect when they arrived, so they left to go search for him.

Police said the suspect came back later and “many more people got involved” in another disturbance. Someone was shot in that incident, police said. The victim, a black man in his 20’s, died shortly after.

KCK police said they have a suspect in custody. At this time it’s not clear it that suspect is a person involved in the original call or not.
