KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police say a man showed up at KCK Police Headquarters on Tuesday night and admitted to killing another man. Officers were called to a home on Kimball Avenue off of 11th Street around 7:25 p.m.

Police arrived and found at least three women at the home and the shooting victim. Police identified him as Jerome Simmons, 39, a resident of KCK.

As police began laying out evidence markers around a food box container in the street, the suspected shooter was driving himself to the police station.

"Obviously we will have to question him and follow up the investigation, but we believe we have a person of interest in custody already at this time," Officer Thomas Tomasic said.

A motive for the homicide hasn't been released, and police have yet to identify the man who admits to the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
