KCKPD cancels Silver Alert for 77-year-old Oscar Smith

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A Silver Alert that had been issued for Oscar Smith was canceled on Tuesday night after he was found safe and in good condition.

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department had requested the public’s assistance finding Smith, who is insulin dependent and needed to take medication on Tuesday night.

Smith takes medication for both diabetes and dementia, a release from the police department indicated it was urgent that he took his medication. Smith was supposed to go to a fast food restaurant in the area of 78th and State Avenue at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The restaurant employees reprotedly know him and told authorities he hadn’t shown up as expected.

The alert was canceled around 10 p.m.
