KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been charged in connection to a weekend murder, prosecutors said on Monday.

Eric T. Grimes, 23, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to the homicide on Saturday in the 8000 block of Brooklyn Avenue.

According to court documents, police were called Saturday to 8001 Brooklyn and found a vehicle abandoned in the middle of the street in front of the residence and the victim lying face down in the front doorway of the residence. The victim suffered from gun shot wounds and later died at an area hospital.

Police say that Grimes matched the description of the passenger of the victim`s vehicle who was seen shooting into the vehicle and then running from it. The defendant was the last person seen with the victim and authorities say was known to carry a .38 caliber revolver, which are the same class bullets recovered at the scene.

Grimes is in custody at the Jackson County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash-only bond.
