KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials on Monday unveiled what is being called the city’s first green neighborhood – a pilot project that officials say is one of the most environmentally-friendly in the country.
Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Sly James and other city officials designated the Marlborough neighborhood in south Kansas City as the city’s first green pilot project – the Middle Blue River Basin Green Solutions Pilot Project.
The Marlborough neighborhood includes 75th Terrace between Lydia Avenue and The Paseo. The project includes the latest concrete technology, which allows for greater absorption of water than previous pervious sidewalks.
The city is planning to launch another green pilot project later this summer.
