KANSAS CITY, Mo. –Kansas City police officers are searching for a shooting suspect Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a 911 call just before 3 a.m. The caller said a man was laying on the ground in front of the Cloverleaf Apartments and had been shot in the stomach.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he is was set for surgery. The victim’s injuries were considered life-threatening, but we are told his condition has now stabilized.

As of 5:41 a.m., the k-9 unit was searching for him.

Police describe him as a black male, light complexion, 5 foot 10 inch stocky build with braids and wearing a blue jacket and armed with a handgun.

The suspect is somehow related to the victim’s sister, but the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
