KU football player arrested for alleged aggravated sexual assault

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A University of Kansas football player is facing charges after a woman claimed he sexually assaulted her during the early morning hours.

Early Sunday morning police arrested a KU football player after a 19-year-old woman reported she was with the suspect and several other people when he sexually assaulted her. Between the hours of 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. the victim claims she was with the suspect inside a vehicle and was passed out due to intoxication when she said he forcibly fondled her without her consent.

The 21-year-old KU player was arrested near 15th and Crestline Drive, and then booked on a charge of Aggravated Sexual Battery.

The Associate Athletics Director for the University of Kansas confirmed Monday, that 21-year-old Mark A. Thomas, of Brooklyn, New York, has been suspended indefinitely, from KU's football team in connection to this investigation.

The Thomas was being held in the Douglas County Jail as of 2 p.m. Monday, but has yet to be formally charged by police.
