LAWRENCE, Kan. — Lawrence police are investigating after a 19-year-old woman was found dead in her bed at the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house.
Around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, officers found the student at the sorority house near 1500 Sigma Nu Place.
The 19-year-old has been identified as Piper Alexis Carter, from Overland Park.
There is no foul play suspected based on investigations so far, and police are still waiting for the coroner to determine a cause of death.
Lawrence police said the 19-year-old attended the University of Kansas.
“I know there’s some rumors floating around on social media about what may or may not have caused this person’s death, and we want to caution people to not speculate on what may or may not occurred,” Sergeant Drew Fennelly said.
“We have to wait on all the details and facts to come in so that we have that information and it’s known.”
In high school, Carter was on the Blue Valley West women’s soccer team that won state her senior year and she played goalie for the KU Women’s club soccer team.
