LAWRENCE, Kan. — Police arrested a shooting suspect overnight near 23rd Street and Harper in Lawrence, Kan.

Police said the suspect was arrested on suspicion of shooting a person around 2:15 a.m. in the north parking lot of Dad Perry Park, near Harvard Road and Monterey Way in Lawrence. The victim suffered multiple gun shot wounds and was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Topeka, Kan.

Police said the victim was able to identify the shooter, who was known to the victim.

Police located the shooting suspect around 3 a.m. and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department where he was interviewed and remains in custody.

The victim remains hospitalized.
