LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — A Lee's Summit teen is dead following an early-morning car wreck.

According Lee's Summit Police, 17-year-old Caleb Gotway was traveling east on SW Hook Road near SW Ward Road shortly after midnight when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, left the road and struck a dirt embankment.

Authorities say that Gotway, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, was cut from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital where he died.

The accident is still under investigation, but police say that they don't suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
