LENEXA, Kan. — A Lenexa teen was shopping at a local sports store when she was molested by an older man. The incident happened Thursday night at Sports Authority on W. 95th Street. Police say she was shopping inside the store, when she noticed a man started following her.

Police say that man, in his mid-30’s, inappropriately grabbed the teen and ran out of the store. The teenage girl screamed and another man who was shopping nearby heard her and ran after the suspect but it was too late. Police want the public’s help finding him because officers say if this suspect will do something like this, he’ll do it again and is a threat to the community.

“What we know about criminals that will perpetrate these kind of sex crimes often times they work their way up to a higher level. That doesn’t always happen but it is a concern to us that’s why we would really like to figure out who this person is,” Lexena Master Police Officer Dan Friesen said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s, 6’0, wearing plain brown wire-rimmed glasses with rectangular frame, a dark gray zip up jacket with a hood and tennis shoes. Witnesses saw the man get into a silver 2-door Nissan Maxima.

Police are checking traffic cameras and working with stores in the area to track down surveillance video of the suspect. If you know anything about this, call Crimestoppers at (816) 474-TIPS.
