Standoff ends peacefully after fatal hit and run crash near Isle of Capri Casino

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person has died after a hit and run crash near the Isle of Capri Casino in Kansas City.

The crash was reported around 1 p.m. near the 1800 block of Front Street, near the entrance of near the Isle of Capri Casino. According to investigators, a black Nissan pickup had been driving west when it hit a white Cadillac sedan, which was trying to make a turn.

A woman who was riding in the Cadillac died shortly after she arrived at the hospital. The man driving the Cadillac remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Nissan ran away from the scene and was involved in a standoff that lasted several hours in the 700 block of N. Kansas Avenue. The standoff ended peacefully near 7 p.m. and the driver was taken into custody for questioning.

A passenger in the Nissan stayed on scene, according to investigators.
