OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Guy’s Snacks in Overland Park is taking action to help the people of Flint, where the toxic water crisis has left an entire city without water.

The effort all started with one Leawood woman’s desire to help people in need.

Janice Bell said the thought of children not having clean water to drink horrified her, so yesterday she started calling friends asking them to help and has been surprised by the outpouring of support.

Costco donated cases of water and total strangers came up to her in the store and gave her water for the drive.

Another metro company, Freightquote, is coordinating the shipping of the supplies to Flint so that Janice won’t have to drive them there herself.

Donations are still being collected at Guy’s Snacks headquarters at 95th Street and Metcalf. Anyone who brings in two cases or more of bottled water gets a free bag of Guy’s potato chips.
