OLATHE, Kan. — A local man appeared in court Tuesday for “upskirting” five teenage girls.

John Britton was charged with breach of privacy. Police say the 63-year-old took pictures up the girls’ skirts without them knowing.

Britton stood in front of the judge Tuesday and plead no contest, and now it’s up to the judge to decide what his fate will be.

The recommendation from both the prosecution and defense include six days of shock time, a sex offender treatment program and to be added to the sex offender registry.

According to the affidavit, a woman told police in January she saw a man behaving suspiciously at the QuikTrip at 51st and Roe. When police looked at the store’s surveillance video they say they saw Britton follow a girl in a school uniform into the store.

He watched her and other females in the store and waited for them to go to the counter.

According to police, Britton stood behind them in line, bent down, placed his cell phone on the floor while tying his shoe.

Police recovered Britton’s phone and found four videos of interest.

The girls in school uniforms were identified as female students who are 16, 15 and 14-years old.

Britton plead no contest for “upskirting” the five teenage girls and will be back in court for sentencing on August 2.
