Man allegedly steals pop up camper trailer, leads police on overnight pursuit

OLATHE, Kan. -- Police in Johnson County arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he led police on a chase through Johnson County.

The chase started in Linn Valley when police noticed a person driving out of the area with a pop up camper trailer attached to the back of their vehicle. Police said they suspected that the camper trailer was stolen so they followed the driver along northbound 69 Highway.

The suspect led police on a chase along 69 Highway. The chase finally ended near 179th where the suspect fled his vehicle and took off into a field.

According to police, a police helicopter and a canine unit was called in to help search for the suspect.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody just after 1:30 a.m. Police said the suspect was wearing camouflage when he was located.
