KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is dead late Wednesday morning after being pinned in a freak parking garage accident.

Police say Leonard Prestia, 68, of Gladstone, Mo., died in the accident.

It happened at a parking garage near Pershing and Main near Union Station around 11:30 a.m.

Police say Prestia was putting money in a parking garage toll when he dropped his change. When he opened the door to pick it up, he inadvertently hit the gas pedal with his foot.

The accident caused him to be pinned between the car and the toll machine.

Prestia died at the scene, police said.

There were two other underage children inside the car that were not hurt, police said.

Roads were closed in the area for a short time while police investigated.
