Man Hit by Trash Truck While Picking Up Trash

LAWRENCE, Kan. — A man is recovering in the hospital after he was struck by a trash truck Wednesday afternoon in Lawrence, Kan.

The accident happened at about 1:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of North 800th Street.

Police say the driver of the trash truck, which is registered to Honey Creek Disposal, was going westbound when his passenger reached out of the truck as it slowed down to pick up trash.

The passenger, Noah Bedell, 38, stepped out before the truck stopped, lost his footing and fell to the ground and was struck by the side/front of the truck. Bedell was complaining of pain in his pelvis and back when he was transported by Life Star to the hospital.
