KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is in critical condition after being shot in the chest during a home invasion in Kansas City, Mo.
According to police, two men went to a home in the 1500 block of E. 77th Terrace Thursday morning in a robbery attempt. Inside the home were two brothers who were sleep.
One of the brothers told police two men broke into his home and put a gun to his head. He said his brother woke up when he heard the commotion and came out of his room. A struggle ensued and his brother was shot in the chest. He was taken to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The uninjured brother told police they sometimes have “wild” parties where people are known to deal drugs. He told police they had a party Wednesday night and believes the suspects may have been at the party and returned on Thursday to steal some electronics.
“Usually on something like this, someone comes in and steal electronics in your house, they know what you have in your house and they’ve probably been there before,” said Darrin Snapp with Kansas City, Mo., police. “They said they had a party yesterday and there were several people over, so these people might have come in yesterday during the party or known someone who told them what they had in their apartment.”
One of the suspects wore a kerchief over his mouth. Neighbors told police they saw the suspects drive away in a white car with a big screen TV in the trunk.
Police said the brothers may face drug charges pending the investigation.
