ST. LOUIS — Police are looking for a man who tossed a pair of kittens from his car along Highway 370 in Bridgeton, Mo. Wednesday afternoon.

Bridgeton is about 25 miles northwest of St. Louis.

The man tossed the kittens from the window of his SUV while driving down the highway.

Witnesses say the man appeared to be between the ages of 20 and 35. He was driving a 1970s or 1980s SUV colored silver-gray or greenish-gray.

He tossed one kitten and then another into the traffic along Highway 370, which links St. Louis and St. Charles counties.

“It was a horrible scene and I hope that no one ever has to see this again,” said Emily Meier, an eyewitness. “I just really came back to see if the other kitten was still alive and take it home,” she said.

“One of the kittens was killed by the car immediately behind the man’s SUV. The other kitten might have survived because neither police nor animal control officers were able to find it.
