KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- It`s been one week since a metro teen was fired from a pizzeria at the Legends after asking why she wasn`t getting paid as much as her male coworker. FOX 4’s story has gotten national attention - it even has democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton talking, who tweeted on Friday how proud she was of the teen for her courage.

FOX 4`s Megan Brilley got a response from Pizza Studio and details about some changes the chain is making after the story first aired last Friday.

Jensen Walcott`s fight for equal pay started when she was hired at Pizza Studio in the Legends.

“She said good news, you got the job,” Walcott recalled.

The same manager that hired Jensen was fired after FOX 4’s story aired and gained national steam.

Jensen was hired on the same day as her good friend Jake Reed. But after accepting her job offer- Jensen realized she wasn`t getting paid as much as Jake.

Jake was offered $8.25 an hour, while she was offered $8.

She called her manager to ask why only to be fired immediately. Jake was fired, too.

Her manager told her it was against the policy to talk about wages.

Pizza Studio didn`t respond to FOX 4 until today. The company sent FOX 4 a statement alleging gender did not play a role in the determination of salary. Pizza Studio says the manager failed to assign the correct salary and misunderstood the company`s policy.
